On yesterday, Social media platforms Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp were down for many users all afternoon.
This outage affected millions across the globe. Users were reporting problems with logins, posting, messaging and
general use of these apps, leaving the world in a social media panic.
Immediate signs of these issues were around 12:00pm EST, when users began reporting login issues or were not
able to view their newsfeeds or timelines. There were also messaging issues in Instagram for users who were not
able to send or receive messages.
Facebook responded late afternoon and advised that the outage was not related to a DDoS attack. There was a recent
upgrade to the Instagram App. Instagram had later responded on Twitter advising that they were aware of the issue and was working very hard to resolve the technical issues impacting its users.
As of today, the use of Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp appear to be in proper working order and the technical
issues have been resolved.
