Dating is so Much Fun. Right?

Go on dates they said. It will be fun they said. Are you having fun yet? Dating can be exhausting. Between deciphering text messages, deciding who should pay for the date, and wondering how soon is too soon to respond to that hello text. Should I respond right back? No, I’ll wait 10 minutes and then say hey. But what if I wait too long and then he thinks I’m not interested? This is silly. I’m just going to text back right now. Keep it light and breeze. Or maybe I should wait so I don’t look too available.
You are not a forensic scientist, stop overanalyzing things. Below are 4 simple tips to help make your dating experience less painful.
Tip 1: Leave your expectations at the door. This one is easier said than done. When we meet someone for the first time, we bring our hopes with us. Try not to worry about if he’s the one or if your friends will like him. The first few dates are about getting to know each another. Live in the moment enjoy the date you're actually on without mentally plotting your entire future with this person.
Tip 2: Step out of your comfort zone. If you go to the same places every day and keep meeting the same types of people then maybe it’s time to mix it up. Potential mates are everywhere. Take a free course and meet scholar bae. Check out your local library and meet book worm bae. Take a cooking class and meet chef bae. The possibilities are endless if you willing to take a detour.
Tip 3: Don’t fake it. If you’re looking for a soulmate you should always be 100% your authentic self. Faking it is hard work and you’ll never know if his interested in the real you or the picture-perfect person you’re pretending to be. If someone can’t accept your unique self why would you want to date them anyway.
Tip 4: Believe that you are worthy and deserving of love because you are. That’s it. That’s tip 4. You’re dope and someone is looking for your brand of dopeness.
Dating can be difficult. It’s harder to meet people and even harder to connect. And honestly, there isn’t a one size fits all approach to dating. But if you stay true to who you are, try to have fun, and remain open to receiving love, you just might find a lasting connection.
