The Rapper plans on opening both of his restaurant’s (Escobar restaurant and Tapas) to the public to dine on next Monday. This decision has caused a lot of backlash and criticism as most of you may know there is a currently a debate over whether the state of Georgia should be opening up so soon following the lockdown.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp made the decision to allow barbershops, gyms, bowling alleys and nail salons as to reopen. However, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Bottoms says she’s “dumbfounded” by Kemp’s decision to reopen his business in the middle of a pandemic.

2 Chainz and his business partner/co-owner Snoop Dillard claim both businesses took a loss like many others during the lockdown. They told TMZ sales were down “95 percent during the shutdown” at both locations and they were “forced to furlough about 80 percent of their staff.” Now that they plan to re-open with 80 people back at work.

A lot of critics say this decision has been made way too early and feel the rapper is putting his staff and patrons at risk. However, the owners claim safety will be their number one priority moving forward ensuring staff members will take the proper precautions.

In another statement issued to TMZ, 2 Chainz & Dillard say, they will be adhering to strict hygiene and social distancing rules, gloves would be mandatory for all staff and masks, single-use paper menus would be available and staff would have their temperatures checked upon arrival. If any worker shows up with symptoms associated with COVID-19, they would be sent home and asked to quarantine for two weeks.
